Resume Writing Part 3: A Concrete Example
For the final installment of our series on resume writing, we’ve taken a magnifying glass to a CV that exemplifies what hiring managers and recruiters are looking for. Read on below.
In the example, the applicant places all important contact information at the top so that it is easy to locate. Bolded text and an alternate color helps this information stand out, but in a sophisticated fashion that doesn’t distract from the content.
The candidate uses formatting such as bold and italicized fonts to distinguish between positions held and locations of current and previous employers.
Dates are aligned to the right and bolded to stand out. The applicant puts their experience in sequential order, beginning with their current position at the top.
Job responsibilities and accomplishments are clearly listed under each role, and bullet points are succinct and to-the-point.
Relevant skills and certifications are placed at the bottom of the resume.
This CV successfully presents the candidate’s qualifications in a clear, aesthetically pleasing, and professional manner. Remember, a stellar resume is one that accurately represents you. Focus on content and readability, and you can’t go wrong!
